This Privacy Policy describes Common Curriculum's practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of the information we collect from and about you when you use Common Curriculum's web-based applications and websites, including Common Planner (the "Service"). We take our obligations regarding your privacy seriously and have made every effort to draft this Privacy Policy in a manner that is clear and easy for you to understand. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Service, and our Acceptable Use Policy.
For schools and districts using Common Planner, our Student Data Privacy Notice provides detailed information about COPPA, FERPA, and state student privacy law compliance.
Personal Information We Collect
We collect or receive information in the ways we describe in this section.
Information You Provide to Us
When you sign up to create an account in the Service, download content from the Service, fill out a form or survey or respond to communications, you provide us with information like your name, email address, address, company, phone number or other information. When you register for a community or a partner program, we collect account registration information like your name, email address, address, company, phone number, or other information. You may provide comments, communications, feedback, ratings, or other information when you use the Service or any of our communities or partner programs.
When You Create an Account
When you create an account, you provide us with your account registration and profile information (name, email address, company, and similar information). We automatically track certain information about your use of the Service, partner programs, or communities. We collect information about you when you login and how you interact with the Service, the features you use, clicks, log information about your use of the Service, and how you interact with other users.
Content You Provide Through Our Service
Your use of the Service will involve you uploading or inputting various content into the Service; including but not limited to: lessons, units, cards, planbooks, attachments, group names, comments, and links (together, the "Content").
Information from Integrated Services like Google or Clever
If you decide to register through or otherwise grant access to a third-party integrated service (what we call an "Integration"), such as Google, Common Curriculum may also collect Personal Information that is already associated with your integration account. You may also have the option of sharing additional information with Common Curriculum through an integration. If you choose to provide such information, during registration or otherwise, you are giving Common Curriculum the permission to use, share, and store it in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.
If you choose to log into Common Curriculum using your Google account, your login will be authenticated by Google. If you open/save files on Google Drive, Google will first request authorization for this. Information You Provide Through Support Channels or Communities
You may provide information or content to us through the customer support or chat functionality we make available on the Service or other sites that we control. When you engage with our support team, in addition to your account information, we may ask you to provide additional information about your issue, which may include information about your technology, software, internet connection, or screenshots. To submit information to a community site, we may require you to create an account within the community (we will collect your account registration information like name, email, company, address, and phone number). If you have an account in the Service, we will associate your community membership and activities with your Service account. As a community member, you and other members may submit questions, provide answers, engage with members through chat or comments, create content or webinars to share with the community, or solicit feedback or help from other community members.
Marketing Information
We receive information about you directly from you when you engage with the Service and automatically when you engage with the Service or open or click the emails we send you. We receive information from third-party sources like lead generation providers, content sponsors, event sponsors, or social media platforms. The information we collect from third-party sources may include marketing or demographic information, contact information (name, email, company, address, job title), information about your profile on those platforms, or information about purchasing intent. We may combine this information with the information we collect.
Payment Processing Information
When you create a paid account within the Service or otherwise initiate a transaction with us, we will use a third-party payment processor to process the payment. We do not collect your credit card number, expiration date, or pin number. The transaction details we retain are those details that allow us to verify that you paid for the Service or transaction, including price, currency, date of payment, payment method, name, and account name. We will combine that information with your account information.
School and District Customers
When schools or districts use Common Planner, we process educator content and school data under the direction of the school and in accordance with our agreements with those schools. Teacher-shared pages are read-only and do not provide fields for students to submit information. Server Logs and Cookies
When you use the Service, our servers automatically record certain information in server logs. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks and how you interact with links on the Service, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed, and other such
information. Log files help us to monitor, analyze, improve and maintain the Service and to diagnose and fix any Service-related issues.
The Service may use cookies and local storage for security, performance, and analytics purposes. For details on cookies and persistent identifiers processed when teacher-shared pages are accessed, see our Student Data Privacy Notice.
Location Information
We may collect and process information about the location of the device from which you are accessing the Service. Location data may convey information about how you browse the Service and may be used in conjunction with personally identifiable information. You can disable location based services in settings associated with the Service; however please be aware that some features of the Service may not function properly if location services are turned off.
How We Use Personal Information We Collect
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
to provide and support the Service,
to improve the Service,
to provide, support, and improve our partner programs or communities,
to process your requests,
to process your payments or transactions,
to provide you with information about our products and services (educators and administrators only, not students),
to combine information about you with other information we receive from third parties,
to tailor the content or information that we provide to you (educators and administrators only, not students or teacher-shared page viewers),
to protect the integrity or security of our business, the Service, or third-party applications,
to carry out our obligations, enforce our rights, comply with any legal obligation (including assisting our customer to comply with their legal obligations), where it is necessary for our legitimate interests, or to fulfill any other purpose for which you provided the information.
We do not use education-record data or teacher-shared page data for marketing, and we do not combine it with third-party marketing data. See our Student Data Privacy Notice for details on how we handle teacher-shared page data.
How We Share Your Information
We may share the information we collect from you with third parties as detailed below. We do not sell personal information (including Google user data or any student information), and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
With your Consent
We may share your information with companies, organizations, and other third parties with your consent or to fulfill the purpose for which you provided the information.
As Directed By You
We will display your Profile information on your profile page and elsewhere on the Service in accordance with the preferences you set in your account. You can review and revise your Profile information at any time.
If you elect to use a third party application to access the Service, then we may share or disclose your account and Profile information and your Content with that third party application as directed by you. Please remember that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such third parties so you should make sure you trust the application and that it has a privacy policy acceptable to you.
With Trusted Service Providers and Business Partners
We may employ third-party services, companies or individuals due to the following reasons:
To facilitate our Service;
To provide the Service on our behalf;
To perform Service-related services; or
To assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.
For example, we may use third parties to help host our Service, send out email updates, or process payments. These service providers may have access to your information for the limited purpose of providing the service we have contracted with them to provide. They are required to be bound by written agreements that include confidentiality obligations, appropriate security measures, and restrictions to process personal information only on our documented instructions and for the limited purposes of providing services to us. We may also store personal information in locations outside the direct control of Common Curriculum (for instance, on servers or databases co-located with hosting providers).

With Law Enforcement or In Order to Protect Our Rights
We may disclose your information (including your personally identifiable information) if required to do so by law or subpoena. We may also disclose your information to our legal counsel, governmental authorities or law enforcement if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to do so in order to comply with a law or regulation; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Common Curriculum's rights or property.
In an Aggregate and Non-Personally Identifiable Manner
We may disclose aggregate non-personally identifiable information (such as aggregate and anonymous usage data, platform types, etc.) about the overall use of our Service publicly or with interested third parties to help them understand, or to help us improve, the Service.
In Connection With a Sale or Change of Control
If the ownership of all or substantially all of our business changes, we may transfer your information to the new owner so that the Service can continue to operate. In such case, your information would remain subject to the promises and commitments contained in this Privacy Policy until such time as this Privacy Policy is updated or amended by the acquiring party upon notice to you.
How We Protect Your Information
The security of your information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number) as part of our service, we encrypt the transmission of that information using industry-standard encryption.
Common Curriculum uses commercially reasonable and industry-standard physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your information. For example, we continuously and regularly back up your data to help prevent data loss and aid in data recovery.
In the event of a security incident involving unauthorized access to or disclosure of personal information, we will provide notifications as required by applicable law and consistent with any law enforcement needs and measures necessary to determine the scope of the incident. For schools and districts, we will notify the institution without unreasonable delay as set forth in our agreements and applicable law so the institution may meet its own notification obligations.
Risks Inherent in Sharing Information
Although we allow you control over where you share your Content and what information is included in your Profile and take reasonable steps to maintain the security of the information associated with your account, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot control the actions of other users with whom you share your Content and we are not responsible for third party circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures on the Service.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. For schools and districts, specific retention periods may be set forth in our agreements; see our Student Data Privacy Notice for details.
Your Choices About Your Information
You may, of course, decline to submit personally identifiable information through the Service, in which case Common Curriculum may not be able to provide certain services to you.
Common Curriculum Blogs
Information you provide in comments to our blogs are public and may be read, collected, and used by others who view those blogs. Your posts will remain even after you cancel your Service account.
Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for use by educators and school staff and is not directed to children. Common Curriculum does not provide accounts for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children through account registration or input forms. When teacher-shared pages are accessed, we may process limited technical identifiers, which are treated as personal information under COPPA. We use this data only to support internal operations (security, performance, error detection) as permitted by COPPA, and not for marketing, advertising, or to build profiles of children. Teacher-shared pages are read-only and do not provide fields for students to submit information.

Education Customers (FERPA)
When a school or district uses Common Planner, Common Curriculum processes school content (including any student information contained in it) on behalf of the school and under the school's instructions. To the extent a school discloses personally identifiable information from education records to Common Curriculum, we will:
Perform an institutional service or function for which the school would otherwise use employees
Remain under the school's direct control with respect to the use and maintenance of education records
Use personally identifiable information only for the purposes for which the disclosure was made
Not redisclose personally identifiable information except as permitted by the school's agreement or required by law
Schools remain responsible for determining who has "legitimate educational interest" and meeting any FERPA notice obligations applicable to their disclosures.

International Data Transfer
We may transfer and process information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers maintain facilities. Data protection laws in these locations may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Links to Other Web Sites
We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to from within the Service, nor the information or content contained therein. Please remember that when you use a link to go from the Service to another website, our Privacy Policy is no longer in effect and your activities on that third party website is subject to such third party website's own rules and policies.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy
If we change our Privacy Policy, we will post those changes on this page to keep you aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances we may disclose it. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
Privacy Requests
To submit a privacy request or ask privacy-related questions, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request. Where permitted by law, you may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. If you are a parent, student, or school seeking access to or deletion of education records, please contact your school or district first. Schools control education records and can submit requests to us under their agreements.
