Link your Planbook to Google Classroom

1. On the sign-in screen click "Sign In With Google"

Shows the sign in page of Common Curriculum.

Note: If you have already signed into Common Curriculum but not with Google, just sign out of your account and then sign back in with Google. To log out of your account, go to the home page and click the power icon in the upper right hand corner.

2. Sign in with your account associated with Google Classroom. Choose your correct timezone.

3. Voila! Your planbook is now linked to your Google Classroom!

Create a Google Classroom Card

1. Select "Add Card" under lesson card that you would like to add a Google Classroom Card to.

2. Under "Add Card" select "Add Google Classroom Card..."

Shows the Add Card page and highlights Add Google Classroom Card button.

3. Under "What Type of Card?" select out of the listed options which card you would like to add.

Shows the options for types of cards to add to a Google Classroom Card.

4. Congratulations, you have successfully added a Google Classroom Card!

Add Files to a Google Classroom Card

1. Select the Google Classroom Card that you would like to attach a file to.

2. Once inside the card, click the "Add" button under "Attachments"

Shows the Add button under the Edit Assignment page of a Google Classroom Card.

3. There will be a menu of options of places that you can upload files from.

Shows the upload options for where you would like to upload a file from.

Note: Non-Google Drive files will be added as links, which means you won't be able to choose "Make a copy for each student" on those files. If you would like that option, make sure you add the file from Google Drive.

4. Once selecting the file you wish to upload, it will be added to your Google Classroom Card, but click the "Update" button before clicking out of the card.

Schedule a Google Classroom Assignment

1. Inside a Google Classroom Card, click "Schedule" next to the class that the assignment is for.

Shows the inside of a Google Classroom card and indicates the Schedule button.

2. Select a time that your assignment will be posted and a due date and time for the assignment.

Shows how to schedule a post from the inside of a Google Classroom Card.

These are relative dates, so if you bump the lesson your card is in, or move the card to another date, your Google Classroom Card will post on a different date. If you'd like to select an absolute date, to make sure your card posts on that date no matter when its lesson in Cc is, you can select "Choose a Specific Date"

3. Click "Update" to schedule your Google Classroom assignment post!

Post a Link to a Lesson Plan to Google Classroom

Before you can post your lesson to Google Classroom, you need to make sure at least one card in your lesson is visible on your class website. You don't need to have a class website or even be a Cc Pro subscriber to use the Share to Google Classroom button. You just need at least one card in your lesson plan to say "Visible on Class Website".

Cc makes you do this because it will only share cards that say "Visible on Class Website" to Google Classroom. That way you get to choose what shows up on Google Classroom and what doesn't. So you could, for example, make "Homework" visible on Google Classroom, but not "Accommodations and Modifications".

To learn how to publish cards on your class website click here.

1. Go to the lesson that you would like to post on Google Classroom and click the button with three dots.

Shows a lesson card and indicates the buttons with the three dots in the corner to select.

2. On the Lesson Menu click "Share to Google Classroom"

3. You will get this message, make sure that you have selected the correct cards that you would like to be posted to your Google Classroom. If the correct cards have been selected, click "OK"

Shows the Important Note popup when making cards visible on Google Classroom.

4. Sign into your Google Account - Google will show you an authentication screen pop up (or it will open a new tab and make you sign in to Google in that new tab). If you've already done this step on your current computer and browser, then Google might let you skip it, but it might not. We're not Google, so if you've already signed in to Google but they ask you to do it again, then they probably have a good reason!

5. Click "Choose Class" and select the class that you want.

Shows the Google Classroom screen of selecting which class to share to and what you would like to share.

Note: You have to have already set up your Google Classroom account for this menu to have anything in it. If you haven't set up Google Classroom, go do that first, and then come back and repeat these steps.

6. Click "Share action" and then choose how you want to share your lesson.

Shows Google Classroom page of the share action options.

Most teachers that post to Google Classroom from Cc prefer to choose "Create Assignment", but all of these options work just fine. Try playing around with the different options and selecting the one that works best for you!

7. Once selected, click "Go"

8. Your next screen will look different depending on which "Share action" you selected. Fill in the information on the screen that appears for you, then click "Assign" in the upper right hand corner. Then you have successfully added a lesson plan to your Google Classroom!
