In this Cc 101 for Admins guide, we’ll talk about how to create custom templates for increased instructional rigor and uniformity.

Pre-work: This guide assumes that you have already created a school account and that you have added all teachers and administrators. If you haven’t done that, take a look at our Cc for Admins video on Account Set-Up.

Creating custom templates helps to unify your school’s planning culture, ensuring that every instructor includes lesson components that support academic rigor.

As an Admin, you can create custom templates tailored to instructors based on things like, grade level, content team, or teacher proficiency and experience. Let’s talk about how to create custom templates:

To begin, you’ll want to make sure that you are logged in to CC. from the home screen, you will click ‘Go to School’ next to the title of your organization. Then, you’ll click “School Setup” in the top right of the screen.

From here, you will click the button where it says "Share Templates." You’ll click "+Add Template" and you can begin creating your first custom template.

You’ll give it a title and then add components to the lesson template by selecting "+Add Card."

Generally speaking, most of your cards will probably be text cards. But there is also the option to add things like a Google Classroom card. Our standards card is automatically added to every template, though you can delete it in case it’s not useful for your school.

Once you have created your templates, teachers will have access to them inside their own planbooks.

They can access these custom templates by navigating to their planbook, clicking “Edit Templates,” “Change” and “Choose from Gallery.” From here, they will see the name of your school and any of the templates that you have created. By clicking "Choose" they can automatically add this custom template to their planbook.

And that’s it! With custom templates, teachers will never forget what components make up a great lesson. So you can be sure that teachers are supported and that students are receiving high-quality instruction.
