In this Cc for Admins Guide, we’ll focus on how to align every lesson to standards and to track those standards over time. Doing so ensures that teachers are more likely to stay on pace and to include crucial standards that students need in order to be prepared for the next academic year.
Pre-Work: This guide assumes that teachers at your school have already set up their planbooks. If not, have them take a look at the Cc for Teachers video on Account Setup.
In this guide, we’ll talk about:
How to add standards
How to revise standard sets or to submit new standard sets
How to track what standards you have already taught and the ones you still need to include.
Let’s get started.
Every lesson template comes pre-set with a standards card. This is what teachers will use to align their lessons to standards. To add standards to your lesson, press the magnifying glass next to where it says “Search and Add Standards.”
If this is your first time adding standards, you will search for your standard set in our database. You can search by state, organization or school and district.
Once you find your standard set, you can use the search bar to identify the standards needed for your lesson. Not only can you add multiple standards to a single lesson; you can also add from multiple standard sets.
In case you do not see your standards in Cc’s database, you can click where it says “Can’t find the right standards? Click here to add custom standards!” This will walk you through the process of submitting standards to the Common Standards Project.
As a teacher aligns their lessons to standards, they can track their usage over time. By clicking “Standards Tracker,” and selecting the course and the standard set they would like to track, they can see every standard they have taught, the number of times they have taught it, and the dates on which they were taught. By clicking into the date, teachers can get a quick reminder of how they previously taught a specific standard.
Your admin access means that you can support teachers in their efforts to teach all standards. By clicking into your school and into any teacher’s planbook, you can click the standards tracker and use this as a way to jump-start your next coaching meeting.
