Navigating the Unit Timeline
Is just in your nav bar. So you click on the unit timeline, and then this is what it looks like. So you'll see all of your classes listed over on the left.
And then up at the top, this is all of the months and then the dates, so the individual dates.
Adding Units to the Timeline
So when you go to add a unit, all you have to do is just hit the add unit button that's next to the class. So you can click add a unit, and then these pluses will pop up. Now you'll see some pluses down here too. I already have a unit added here. So if you already have units added, you'll see pluses below, and that's because you can actually add subunits.
Creating Subunits
So if you have a unit over the civil war and you have just a mini unit maybe on, I don't know, the Emancipation Proclamation or maybe one over Abe Lincoln, you could go ahead and add in a subunit there, and then that will show up as well as the parent unit on your lessons.
But to add another parent unit here, you just click the plus wherever.
So if I want to have my second unit right after my unit one, I'll just click on that plus, choose the color, give it a title, and then it shows up on the timeline.
Adjusting Unit Length
Now how you make this stretch out to as long as you want the unit to be is you hover over the right, and then there's a little arrow, and then you can just drag it however long or short you want the unit to go.
Pacing and Planning Units
If you are, creating all your units at the beginning of the year and you're really working on pacing everything out and backwards planning, you can adjust these. So if you make these, you can make, you can drag the units around and then make them shorter and things like that if you want to.
Subunit Length Restrictions
So in here, or if you decide you want this to be a subunit, you can do that. So I'm just gonna drag it. Oop. Okay. That is one thing to know. I'm glad it did that. So when you have a subunit, you want to make sure that it is shorter than the parent unit.
Dragging Units
Sometimes somebody will add in, like, a unit here, and then you can drag it out.
If you want a a subunit, it has to stay within this one parent unit. So, like, you couldn't drag this out to go longer or to stretch out to this unit.
That is one limitation there.
Planning Lessons within Units
Okay. So, actually, how to plan the lessons. So or your unit plans. So if you click into a unit, you can show it in the sidebar.
And this is a unit I just have planned out as a sample.
So you can add in cards just like you do with your lessons, and then you can type in there whatever you want, add whatever cards you want. So this is just a sample that I have, and you could plan this out and customize it exactly how you want it to look.
So if I wanna go in here and add, I could add a card.
I could add in a text card, and I could add in maybe a spot for assessments.
And then you could add those in there and then add in as much cards as you want so you can make your unit plan short, long, whatever you want.
And then when you go to actually plan out your lessons, if you close out of this, then you'll see on the unit timeline, when I hit I'm done for the unit, you can add in lessons here. So you can click the add lesson button, and then you have a little blue pluses right here above the unit. And you just click that, and then it pulls up that lesson on that day within that unit. So this is what the lesson will actually look like, like, in your week view or your debut if you're planning your lessons out. You'll see that whatever units you have attached will also be visible within that lesson, and it will show you what day it is.
So this is day twenty one of thirty nine for unit one. You can actually open up the unit if you click on it. So if you click on this unit, then you'll have the unit plan over on the left and then your lesson plan over on the right.
So this is how if you have things backwards planned, you have all of your units planned out and then you wanna go and plan your individual lessons, this is a really good way to do that because you can copy and paste things from your unit plan over into your individual lessons. So let's say you wanna pull a standard, you can copy it and then paste it into that lesson.
Or if for this first lesson here, maybe this is one of your objectives.
If you have a video link here that you've got saved in your unit plan, you can copy and paste it right over into your individual lesson plan.
Okay. You can close out of that, and then you can go to the next lesson and start planning it. Go to the next lesson and plan it.
And then, again, all you have to do to pull up the unit to be side by side is click on the unit, and then it pulls it up side by side.
Exploring the Unit Menu
Okay. I want to show you the unit menu.
I'll go back here, show in the sidebar, and you have some options here.
So you can copy and paste a whole unit just like you can with lessons.
You can erase it. You can view the unit history, and individual lessons. You can browse your lesson history and restore it back to previous versions.
If you didn't know we have that feature, it's in your lesson menu. So if you ever accidentally paste over something or make edits and you've closed out and you can't undo it anymore, go to your lesson menu menu and you'll see that browse lesson history and you can restore things.
So you can also view, your unit history. So I've got my unit here. Here's changes I've made. So if I wanted to go back all the way back there, I could click on the different versions, and then you can roll back to different versions.
Okay. Other things in the unit menu, you can print or download.
Printing and Downloading Units
So as you can see on the unit timeline I'll show you this. The print button is grayed out, and that's because you can't actually print this timeline view, but you can print out the units. So if you show that unit again and go to the unit menu, you can print or download the whole unit.
You can print your unit outline. You can print all of the lessons within the unit if you want to.
And you can only show certain cards. So maybe you just want to print out all your objectives for your units or something, then you could just put in objectives, and it will only print out that card.
Okay. Another way that you could print, kind of like a unit outline and all of your lessons within a unit without doing it from here is you could do that in your outline view.
You can click on a class, and then you'll see you can choose your classes right here. Over here, you'll see the units, and then you'll see the lessons, at least the titles of those lessons within, and you can print this. So you could print out this whole class, and it will include the unit titles and then actually the lessons too.
Okay. I'm gonna go back to the unit timeline.
Make sure if there's anything else I need to cover here. Okay. Just I wanna show you what it looks like in your schedule here. So if I go back to my week view, you will see the units here in your lessons.
Viewing Units in Weekly Schedule
K? So if you want to work on this lesson right here, it's within this unit. You can click on it, and then just like that pulled up in the unit timeline, it pulls up with the unit and the lesson side by side here too.
Goes out of that, can go to the next day, and I've got the unit and then the lesson right next to it.
